Apple Pay™

Apple Pay™ is enabled on the Payment Gateway and merchants uaing HPP are not required to register directly with Apple.

The Payment Gateway handles the complexity of the Apple Pay payment experience including the Apple Pay button rendering, authentication, security, compliance, and payment processing.
Apple Pay offers greater security for customers since no card or wallet data is exposed to the merchant environment.

How Apple Pay works

HPP

A customer selects the Apple Pay button as a payment method on HPP.
A QR code will be displayed to the customer.
Once the customer scans the QR code, Apple displays a payment sheet where a customer selects their preferred card and confirms their purchase.
Apple returns an encrypted payment payload to the Ecentric Payment Gateway for processing.
The result of the transaction is returned to the merchant.

Prerequisites

The following is required in order to accept Apple Pay payments on HPP:

Have an active merchant account on the Payment Gateway.
Use the HPP integration.
Apple Pay availability depends on device and browser compatibility. A list of supported browsers and devices can be found here.
HPP will first check whether the customer's device or browser supports Apple Pay before rendering the Apple Pay button.

Authentication with Apple Pay

When a customer chooses to pay with Apple Pay on HPP, a request is sent to Apple to authenticate the customer.
Apple Pay supports the following two authentication methods which are handled by HPP:

If the customer has an Apple device with a valid card added to their Apple Wallet, then the customer can proceed with device authentication (biometric).
If the customer is selecting to pay using Apple Pay on a non Apple device, an Apple Pay QR code will be displayed. The customer will scan the QR code with their Apple device and authenticate the payment (biometric).
